It is with a very saddened heart that I come on here to announce the passing of Nick Kopcik's father last evening. He was just at the track yesterday enjoying time with his family and friends, wrenching, and watching his grandchildren and son out on the track.
He will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Kopcik family.
We will post additional information regarding services when they become available.

To the Membership:
I would like to thank all that attended last nights meeting, it was definitely one of the largest turnouts we've had in quite some time. I would also like to thank those with specific questions and suggestions in regards to the tire process. I think the majority saw that we are working on this process for the entire membership as a whole and that we are trying to protect each and every member in being able to police the "No Prep Rule" which was voted in by the membership.
Many things have changed since that rule was voted in, including additional versions of a "sniffer proof" prep. We are currently aware of 5 such substances that we need the ability to identify when a tire is being "enhanced" with these products.
There have been many hours spent thus far in creating what we brought to the meeting last night. And in no way did we expect to make everyone happy. In fact if everyone was happy I would have to question if we really missed something. I think it would be foolish to think that there aren't individuals out there that have full intention of stretching or breaking the rules that we as a club have voted in. However, for the majority of the racers I think you see that our only intention and motivation is to protect YOU and your quality of racing.
I hope the 2007 season brings us down to the last race in October to decide each and every class champion. I think giving everyone the opportunity for that is the best that we can do. The adherance to the "ZERO TOLERANCE" initiative and policing the "NO PREP RULE" are two giant steps in that direction.
Constructive criticism we can always use. No one is bigger than the club as a whole. I ask all of you to please offer me your opinions both good and bad and allow us the opportunity to make Nutmeg the club that each of you envision.
Thanks for your time, and see ya at the track!!!!

As you know each year our club holds a two day show in honor of our founder "Richard L Shelton". The proceeds from this show all go to a charity or a deserving family within our local community. Our 2005 show allowed us to donate our proceeds to the Scoopo family whos two sons were both stricken with Cystic Fibrosis. As you all heard, Amanda has been struggling with walking pheumonia which is why I was not at the last meeting... However the board filled me in on how well the meeting went. I just wanted to pass my holiday cheer to all the Nutmeg members and there families. I'm hoping you all have a wonderful Holiday filled with peace and laughter, and a very safe and healthy New Year. See you all soon.....

Wishing everyone good spirit and health during this Holiday season. I would like to thank the members who participated in the rules committee meeting. It was good to work with everyone. The board would like to Thank Bret Bricket for his donation of a pickup to the club. It's dedicated members like Bret who's participation and giving make the club a better place...Thanks Bret.
The January club meeting is the actual rule change proposals meeting. You must be a 2007 member to have any voice and participate in this meeting, as always. A few important issues and some minor changes will be submitted. One is the splitting of the Junior Sportsman Champ Class by the WKA. There are pluses and minuses to this change and this is the meeting to develope what Nutmeg should do for the 2007 season.
Again, December meeting was the discussion--done and completed. January meeting is for submitting rule change proposals in writing. Only members can submit such proposals. The February meeting is when the actual voting takes place. If you want to participate, mark your calenders now....2nd Tuesday of the month at the Firehouse.
Happy Holidays, HOLidays, HOLIDAYS!!!!!!

JUST A LAST MINUTE REMINDER that tomorrow nights meeting is starting at 7:30 instead of 8:00. The entire board is hoping to have a great turnout.
Now onto a few other things.... As you can see we are having a problem getting the website updated.... We are aware of this and are currently working on getting it corrected.... Please continue to check the Club News section for any updates we have....
Also just to let you know the new board had it's first meeting last week and it went great.... It's no secret that the board was not as unified as it should of been last year (for various reasons)and we hit some bumpy roads. I think we rebounded great with an awesome banquet and this continued into our meeting... I won't go into details however we got a lot accomplished and we're all on the same page with our vision for the future. I'm proud to be apart of both the board and this club and we are looking forward to some great things in 2007....
Thanks for your time....

Well the holidays are quickly approaching and we just finished a long season and for most of us karting isn't the number one focus right now... But I urge all to attend the December 12th meeting and help get the wheels in motion for the 2007 season... Throughout the year I heard many opinions and suggestions on how to better our club... Well now's your chance, this year our rules comittee meeting will be a club meeting, and we will be starting it earlier than usual (7:30). Take some time over the next week to think about the areas that you think need some attention.... I know during the season something may be fresh in you mind but now a couple of months later it's probably not be the first thing you remember about the season... but I assure you it will come back again next year whether it be race #1 or race #13 and unfortunately then it's too late....
Just a few areas to consider...... class structures, class splitting, tech, tires, prep, cautions, parents and/or pit members on infield, transponders, committees, pit layout, 2-day show, penalties/suspensions (acceptable conduct, tech refusal or non pass), ability to adjust or add rules once season has begun (nonsafety related), time limit per race, lineups, safety related items (chain guards, wolf plates, arm restraints....) and the list goes on and on and on...
Well I've given everyone a lot to think about over the next few weeks.....lastly... to add something written in my last post.. "Everyone has a voice and everyone's opinion is important..."
See everyone on the 12th

Hey Everyone....I hope all had a great Thanksgiving. It was nice having so much fun with so many members at the banquet. We all clean up pretty good and it's nice to spend an evening with everyone away fom the rigors of racing.
OK, Official Business. One thing an officer hears on a regular basis is members moaning about the rules. WELL that special time is here. Rule changes are a three step process. If you believe there needs to be a change you must be a member and you must become involved. Dec meeting is the RULES COMMITTEE discussion. If you want your opinion heard this meeting is the one, it usaully is a long meeting-be prepared. Jan meeting the rule changes get presented. The February meeting the rules get voted on. Three meetings dedicated to the rules of our club, all active members have the right to be involved and voice their opinion. This is the time to speak up and pitch in molding the clubs future. See you all, second Tuesday every month at the Fire house. Meetings start at 8pm but this next meeting my start earlier due to its unusual long length. Stay tuned for a posting concerning the start time. Caio.

Thanks to all that attended the banquet and made it such a huge success.... Though smaller than the Fireside I think Roberto's cozy atmosphere and good food reminded me more of a family get together than just a club function... But then again we are family.
It was nice to see everyone with smiles on their faces instead of the dirt that's usually there by the end of a raceday... I think we clean up pretty nice...
I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of those same faces at our upcoming club meeting Dec 12th... Our primary order of businesss will be a "Club Rules Comittee"... Now's the time that we set the footprint for our upcoming season... Everyone has a voice and everyone's opinion is important... See you soon....

--------------WEEKLY RACING SERIES UPDATE------------------
There have been alot of questions about the standings of the Joe Karter Weekly Racing Series. There will be an update to the points within the next few days. The points listed did not match the race dates on the Joe Karter web page that were established and listed at the beginning of the season. The race days listed are 5/7, 5/21, 6/4, 7/9, 7/30, 8/20, 9/10, and 9/17. Please direct any questions you may have about these changes to me. Sorry for the confusion.

I want to thank everyone for their time and effort making this past season great. Of course the season wasn't perfect and there were a few bumps in the road.... but the friendships and camaraderie of the membership makes us stronger each and every year...
I look forward to seeing all of you at both our annual Family Fun/Turkey Day this upcoming Sunday and our Awards Banquet on November 19th at Roberto's in Monroe. Please contact any of the board or Kathy Hudak if you haven't had your picture taken OR if you are interested in placing an add in the yearbook.
Lastly I ask all of you to remember the spirit and intent of this upcoming Fun Day and please ensure we are running the approriate motors, plates, and fuel for the appropriate classes... Each age/class has a specific performance level set for safety purposes and we need to honor those limitations... Tech should not be an issue...
Thanks for your time and support

I'm sorry I was unable to attend this past weeks race I was the chairperson for the FedEx United Way Family Fun Day and Softball Tournament held in East Hartford. We had a great turnout and were able to raise over $3000 for the local chapter. Thanks to those that offered assistance in the pits to the rest of the turtles.
The Nutmeg points have been updated on the Vega Rewards site with the exception of the two day show and this past Sundays race. Please take a look at the site and make sure I haven't accidently omitted anyone.
